Bob was born September 1st, 1948, in Boulder, Colorado. The son of Glen and Beulah Short, Bob spent his entire life in the Boulder and Longmont area, and always considered himself an old Boulderite. He cherished and loved the western Colorado life. Bob's roots in Colorado and in Boulder run deep. His great-grandfather, John Harris, came to Boulder in the mid-1860's and spent his life mining for silver, tungsten, and coal.
Bob attended Foothills Elementary school, Centennial Junior High, and Boulder High school. Along the way he made many friends, several of whom he kept in touch with his entire life. It is amazing how many friends Bob made throughout his life and how they were there for him forever. Some of them even formed a music group that played together for years. They never took the show on the road, which was probably a good thing because Bob had no close neighbors. Bob enjoyed old cars and trucks. He was always getting an old truck, can tractor, or piece of machinery to fix up and sell. Bob leased Elk Mountain ranch for many years and boarded horses. He loved the outdoors and the cowboy lifestyle.
Bob is survived by his sister, Beverly; his son, Daniel Masters, and his granddaughter, Lexxie Masters. His life-long friends : Don Brown, Shirley Angel, Jim Rhoads, Chris Shoales, and Teri Williams. His former wife and others were always there for him when he needed them. He will be missed by many.
A Celebration of Life service will be held August 6th, 2026 at 9:30 AM at Howe Mortuary, located at 439 Coffman St. in Longmont. Light refreshments will be served afterward.
Bob will then be buried at Green Mountain Cemetery in Boulder.
