Robert James Stafford, 80, passed on January 1, 2008 at Life Care Center in Longmont.Bob was born in Longmont on March 25, 1927 to William Henry and Katherine M. (Mohr) Stafford. He spent his entire life in the Erie/Boulder/Longmont area except for a short visit to the West Coast and a stint in the US Army during WWII.He was a true 'tinkerer' and could fix most anything. Those that knew him respected that he was a fiercely independent and self-reliant man. His main career was with a well drilling company, which left him with the infamous red and yellow truck. He will be fondly remembered by his special friends and helpers, Jimmy, Sherry, his neighbors in ""Old Town"" and the gang at the Erie Conoco. The West Coast Staffords truly appreciate the love and caring of his Colorado 'family'. He will be buried in the family plot at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, in Erie. No services are planned at this time. Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services in Longmont is handling arrangements. Please share thoughts, memories and condolences at www.howemortuary.com.
