Robert "Bob" Holdredge Yates

He came to Colorado to attend the University of Denver in 1959 and after his first winter in Colorado decided he was not going back to those eastern winters again.

Bob served in the Army from 1963 to 1965. On December 19, 1971 he married Marlene (Skinner) Yates. In 1974 they moved to their home in Longmont, CO where they have lived for 52 years with their magnificent views of the front range, gorgeous sunrises and sunsets.

They were blessed with two sons, Justin and Josh.

Bob had thoughts of starting a dairy farm, but his brother-in-law, Doyle Skinner, suggested that he work on one before making the big investment. After two years of working on a dairy as a milker, he decided that perhaps that was not his life long dream. He worked as a salesman at a local car dealership for many years and then went to work in manufacturing.

Bob loved the outdoors and kept the hummingbird and bird feeders always full for our feathered friends year round. He was a beekeeper for many years.

Bob and Marlene visited all 50 states with road trips through the lower 48. When they flew to Alaska they rented a car and continued on their love of road trips there. When they flew to Kauai they were joined by their two sons and made many more wonderful life time memories.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brother David Yates of Franklin, Tennessee.

Bob is survived by his wife, Marlene, sons, Justin and Josh, granddaughters Sydney, Rylee, Caylee and Lilly Yates and great-granddaughter, Charlotte Yates, brother-in-law George Skinner of Albuquerque and many nieces and nephews.
