Roberta "Bobbi" M. Nesheim

Roberta "Bobbi" Nesheim lived a life defined by music, learning, and an unwavering devotion to helping others. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, resilience, and connection. Fittingly, as she began her final journey, Bobbi led her loved ones in song—a beautiful reflection of the joy and harmony she brought to the world.

A Foundation of Music and Learning

Born and raised as the eldest of three children in Millvale, Pennsylvania, Bobbi discovered her lifelong passion for music during her formative years at summer camp. She pursued this calling at Mansfield State Teachers College, earning her Bachelor of Science in Music Education. Soon after graduation, a teaching opportunity prompted Bobbi, her parents, and her siblings to relocate across the country to Lemon Grove, California.

A Lifelong Dedication to Others

Bobbi’s boundless energy and work ethic were evident early on. By day, she taught elementary school; by night, she taught dance lessons in San Diego to Naval officers. It was at one of these dances where she met her husband, Jean. Married at 24, they welcomed three children: Michael, Scott, and Kim.

Seven years later, following her divorce, Bobbi moved with her children to Fullerton, California. Facing the challenges of raising three children independently, Bobbi’s determination never wavered. She balanced full-time work and motherhood while continuing her own education, earning a Master of Arts in Education from San Diego State College in 1970 and transitioning into a role as a high school counselor.

Driven to deepen her impact, she later achieved her ultimate academic milestone, earning a Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling Psychology from Newport University. That same year, she founded the Center for Creative Growth, a private marriage and family counseling practice. As her practice thrived, "Dr. Bobbi" became a trusted voice in her community, delivering keynote speeches, writing the popular newspaper column “Ask Dr. Bobbi,” and passionately leading her local Toastmasters branch.

Sunsets, Friendship, and Colorado

Later in life, Bobbi moved her home and practice to San Clemente, California. Living just a block from the ocean, she found peace and inspiration in nature, often conducting therapy sessions during walks along the beach.

In 2013, Bobbi moved to Longmont, Colorado, to be close to her daughter, Kim. Never one to truly retire from helping others, she began teaching at the Longmont Senior Center, leading popular classes for over nine years—a program so beloved that dear friends continue to teach it today in her honor.

In Longmont, Bobbi also cherished her deep bond with Kim’s mother-in-law, Cassie. What began as a close friendship evolved into a partnership as "cohorts in crime," filled with laughter and joyful shenanigans. In June 2025, Cassie moved down the hall from Bobbi, allowing the two friends to share their final chapters side by side.

Legacy of Love

Bobbi is preceded in death by her loving parents, Frank and Marion; her sister, Lynn; and her cherished grandson, Britton.

Her vibrant spirit lives on through her children, Michael, Scott, and Kim; her brother, Tony; and her beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and countless friends whose lives were transformed by her counsel, her teaching, and her song. Bobbi lived life to the absolute fullest, and her melody will play on in the hearts of all who knew her.
