She was born on February 19, 1956 in Washington, Pennsylvania, and spent her childhood in Hudson, Ohio. Some of her fondest early memories were formed during summers in Clarksville, Pennsylvania, where she helped her grandparents on their farm. She loved telling stories of the farm and the many shenanigans she and her sisters managed to create there.
In 1974, Robin moved to Boulder, Colorado, where she met the love of her life, Stanley (Stan) Arlington. They married on August 28, 1976, beginning a partnership defined by deep love, unwavering loyalty, and the kind of devotion that only grows stronger with time. Stan passed away nine years ago, and it comforts those who love her to imagine the reunion of two high school sweethearts picking up right where they left off.
Robin earned her nursing degree from the University of Northern Colorado and worked as a labor and delivery nurse. It was fitting work for someone so capable, compassionate, and steady under pressure.
Later, Robin turned her considerable talents toward raising her three children- Rianne, Ben, and Adam. She was the kind of mother who somehow managed to be everywhere at once: at practices, games, school events, and always exactly where she was needed. She ran a household with intelligence, grit, and efficiency. Her children knew they were loved, supported, and were encouraged to do their best.
Robin had a gift for transforming spaces. Family members lovingly knew her as the Remodeling Queen, because no room, wall, or garden bed was ever truly finished—it was simply waiting for Robin’s next improvement. Hardware stores everywhere owe her a debt of gratitude. Her home was beautiful because of her hands, and her yard bloomed because of her care. Her flower garden was a source of joy, as were the many small dogs she lovingly cared for over the years.
In her later years, Robin’s greatest joy was becoming Grandma to Anniston Woog, Caden Woog, and Kenley Arlington. She was a loving grandmother who made a point to establish memorable traditions with her grandkids and spent dedicated time in conversation with each of them. Listening attentively with care.
Robin was intelligent, witty, kind, and gloriously well-informed. She followed politics closely, loved comic strips, appreciated a sharp laugh, and never hesitated to speak her mind. If you asked for her opinion, you got it. If you didn’t ask, you still might get it—and you were usually better for it.
She is survived by her children, Rianne Arlington, Ben Arlington, and Adam Arlington; daughter-in-law Mandy Arlington; son-in-law Edward McDonald; grandchildren Anniston Woog, Caden Woog, and Kenley Arlington; sisters BethAnn Catalano, Susan Purcell, and Melissa Purcell; father-in-law Roe Willis; brothers-in-law Jim Arlington and Ted Willis; sisters-in-law Kim Arlington and Mindy Willis; and her cherished puppy Olivia.
Robin leaves behind a family who adored her, friends who loved her and a tight-knit neighborhood community whom she loved like family. She will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and almost certainly still supervising things from above.
