Robin was born on May 9th, 1962, in Auburn, Indiana to George D. Brown and Mary Jane (Kessler) Brown. She enjoyed playing with her brother, David, and all of her cousins at the large family get-togethers. She attended Ball State University, and being one of only two women in a class of 80 students, received a BS degree in landscape architecture.
During her college years, her parents moved to Colorado, and while on break there, she met Leon Schielke. We always like to joke around that due to the age difference, Leon had to get the little red car, wait for the girl to grow up and move next door. Only a week after she graduated with her degree, and blowing their honeymoon budget on long distance phone calls, they got married on August 3rd, 1985. Shortly after, she and Leon moved to Longmont, Colorado. On December 23rd, 1987 Kate was born and two years later, Josh was born on May 1st, 1990.
Robin had a passion for kids. She was an art teacher for kindergarten to Jr. High school students at Longmont Christian School for many years. She then went on to work as a worker, and then on to becoming the Weekday Childcare Coordinator for the women’s ministries at her church, Calvary Church in Longmont. She also took the time to do early morning ESL tutoring for kids in China through VIP Kids.
Robin, along with her daughter, Kate, her mother, Mary Jane, and her niece, Rachel, became a member of the NSDAR, the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was an avid reader, lover of art and music, and passionate about her faith, family and friend. She was always there to listen and would give any support that she could. She was proud of the individuals that her kids have become and their strength in their faith.
Robin is survived by her two children, Kate, and Josh, as well as her husband Leon, her mother, Mary Jane, her step-father, Lew McCain, her brother, David Brown and a legion of extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm at Calvary Church on Tuesday March 15, 2022. Please wear green in memory of Robin. Memorial contributions can be made to Paws on the Ground or the Leukemia Foundation.
