Roger L Woods

Roger Woods, 62, of Longmont, died May 25, 2010 at his home in Longmont.Roger was born in Peoria, Illinois on August 17, 1947. He was immediately adopted into the loving family of Wilmer and Hellen (Hoffman) Woods. He proudly served in Vietnam as part of the United States Army from 1966 – 1969. In 1970 he moved to Estes Park, Colorado and married Kathy Loukonen in 1971. That marriage was blessed with three sons: David, Timothy and Douglas. Kathy and Roger later divorced but remained friends throughout the years. In the 70's and 80's his intelligence allowed him to work for Beach Aircraft and Ball Aerospace where he would win the prestigious Snoopy Award. He also worked on numerous projects for NASA. After retirement Roger lived the remainder of his days in the Lyons and Longmont areas. He always enjoyed time with his family, fishing, camping, and puzzles. He was an avid sports enthusiast. He will be forever remembered for his sense of humor and his compassion as a loving, caring and thoughtful person. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, June 7, 2010 at Staging Area ""A"", Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO. with honors being provided by the United States Army Honor Guard.
