Ron was born to Michael and Christine Chesler on March 8, 1946. He was the youngest of four children, being born 8 minutes after his twin brother. Ron spent his childhood in Minnesota living on Pike Lake where the outdoors was his playground. His love of boating, fishing, camping and all things outdoors was set for life in those years. Ron passed that love of the outdoors on to his children and grandchildren.
The Chesler family moved to Jefferson, Iowa in 1960. It was in Jefferson that Ron graduated from high school and met his future wife. Ron married Pamela Monthei on November 6, 1964, and began a union that would span nearly sixty years. Their first big adventure together began in 1967 when they moved to Colorado where they would build a life and raise their 2 children, Jeff (Tara) Chesler and Jill (Paul) Giovannetti and 4 beloved grandchildren, Lily and Jake Chesler, Luca and Ella Giovannetti. That first adventure was followed by many other memorable travels around the world with family and with friends.
Ron was in the insurance business for 35 years beginning at Metropolitan Life and later as an Independent Health Insurance Broker specializing in small business. In his retirement he started Turf Tech Sprinkler Repair & Maintenance and continued that company until 2019 when he turned it over to his son. During all those years Ron established valued clients who became enduring friends.
Ron is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren; his cherished siblings Sheila (George) Towers, Micheline Carrick, Roger (Teresa) Chesler; his beloved in-laws, “The Monthei Family”. A special thank you to Elevations Hospice and First Light Home Care for all the wonderful people who were with us in Ron’s final weeks.
Ron is at peace after struggling with health issues following his 2 strokes in late 2023. Ron will be forever missed by his family and all who loved him during his journey home. God bless you dear husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
A Mass to celebrate Ron’s life will be held Friday, September 6, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 109 3rd Street, Mead, Colorado 80542, followed by a reception at 2:00 PM.
