Early in the morning Tuesday, April 18, 2023. Rosemary Ann (Rademacher) Ames entered eternal life in the presence of her beloved Husband Keith and her children. After years of struggling with an essential tremor, and four months in hospice, Rosemary died a peaceful death in her home.
On May 25th, 1930, Rosemary Rademacher was born to Elizabeth and Theodore Rademacher in the small yellow farmhouse, east of highway 287, just past Walmart. At 92 years of age, she was the oldest daughter of nine siblings, all who farmed or lived and worked in the Longmont area. Rosemary then grew up on a beautiful farm on the intersection of highway 66 and I-25. Her childhood home remains in the shadow of the Cottonwoods and the majestic view of her beloved, Longs Peak.
Rosemary attended Aggies College, now Colorado State University. Not only was Rosemary a hard-working farm girl, but she was also an accomplished seamstress. After shucking corn, weeding long rows of sugar beets and tossing hay, Rosemary could be found at her Singer sewing machine. Eventually one of her fine suits won her Colorado state champion seamstress in 1948 at the state fair in Pueblo.
On April 14th, 1953, Rosemary married the love of her life, local and well known Architect, Keith Ames. They enjoyed their 70th anniversary with their children, on the Friday before her journey ended. Rosemary and Keith met at a dance at CSU. Keith was a young cadet in the air force, stationed in England during the Korean War. After a yearlong courtship and weekly letters, Rosemary eventually flew to England, and they were married in Bury St. Edmunds England in the presence of her Uncle John and his wife Barbara Rademacher and their friends Lt. Kellan and Mrs. Clark. They honeymooned with the Queen of England as they watched her coronation on the streets of London. They then lived in Wetherton England in a thatched roof cottage, and in Ipswich, England, until they eventually moved home to the USA In 1956.
Rosemary (Grandma Rosie, Roro) is survived by her husband Keith, seven Children 26 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Karen (Michael) Hostetler, of Buffalo, Wyoming, their seven children, spouses and 22 grandchildren. Fr. Gregory Ames, Catholic Priest of the Archdiocese of Denver, Sheryl (Steve) Senesac of Highland Lake, their five children, spouses and 9 grandchildren, Lori (Joe) Mueller of Glenwood Springs, their three children and spouses. Kim (Martin) Magill of Niwot, their three children. Tom (Alicia) Ames of Loveland their six children, and Navy Commander Joseph (Bobbi) Ames of Imperial Beach, CA and their two boys.
Rosemary and her Husband built their own beautiful home near Haystack Mountain in 1967-70. Rosemary worked tirelessly in the construction and homemaking over many years. They continue to reside in their family home to this day. She prided herself on her beautiful flower gardens, her ever-growing family, her deep faith in Jesus Christ, her loyalty and fidelity to her husband and children and, friends. She enjoyed sewing with her daughters, waterskiing, hiking the local trails, traveling to Mexico, England, Germany, Spain, and Rome, and playing in pumpkin patches, attending weddings of her grandchildren, sewing their wedding dresses and being a fun loving, playful and happy grandma Rosie. Her eyes could pierce your soul and her radiant smile move every heart.
Rosemary was a Devout Roman Catholic. She attended Mass every Sunday, and proudly claimed she only missed Sunday Mass once in her long life. The Sunday after the Blizzard of 1982! She no longer was active in a local parish enjoying Sunday Mass in her home with her Son Fr. Gregory Ames, or her Grandson Fr. Seth Hostetler of Cheyenne. While proud she had blessed the Church with two Priests, she was equally proud of every one of her children.
Rosemary will be buried at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Mead, where she was baptized in 1930. The Vigil will be at 5:30 pm on Monday, April 24, the Mass of the Resurrection on Tuesday April 25th, at 11:00 am. There will be a lunch hosted by Guardian Angels following the service. The Burial will be at 2:30 pm at Foothills Garden of Memory on 287 just a mile from her birthplace. Rosemary will be deeply missed as the Matriarch of a very large local family and a deeply loved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandma, and friend to many.
