
Rosie Heaton, 96, passed away at The Bridge January 22, 2013.She was born in Hawley, MN March 2, 1916 to Rudolph and Aloisie (Cech) Opatril, She attended schools in Broomfield and lived in Hawley and Broomfield during her teen years. During the war, she worked in Denver packing ammunition for Remington Arms. After the war she worked as a meat cutter.She married Anthony Heaton in April 1951 at the Rinn Methodist Church and moved toLongmont. They owned a farm east of town where she milked cows, worked in the field, and raised 2,000 chickens. When they downsized their farm, she worked at the Great Western Sugar Company in the winter. On October 15, 1975, Anthony passed away, and in 1998 she moved into town. In 2011 a bout with shingles made the move to assisted living necessary.Rosie enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, playing cards, reading, crossword and word puzzles, cooking, eating, going on picnics, spending time with her friends and family, but most of all talking. She could talk to anyone and made friends easily.She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and three nephews.Survivors include a daughter, Rose Marie Rempel (Warren), Longmont, two grandchildren, Cynthia Erickson (Kevin) and Kevin Rempel, two great-grandsons, Wyatt and Everett Erickson and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her many friends who touched her life and gave her great joy. We also would like to express our gratitude to all the care givers at The Bridge and Halcyon Hospice.A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM Monday January 28, 2013 at First United Methodist Church in Longmont, CO.
