Rudolfo “Rudy” Maldonado Sr., age 72, of Longmont, Colorado, passed away on Monday, August 19th, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. We gather to honor Rudy Sr. and as we honor him, let's remember the man he was and celebrate his new life in Heaven where he is now. He was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico to Maria and Jose Maldonado.
Rudy Sr. was a man of faith and was a loving, dedicated, and caring Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Son, Brother, Businessman and most of all a friend. His family was his world and he loved each of them beyond what words could describe as he was always there for each of them. He was always helping, teaching, encouraging and supporting them.
He also loved the Longmont community and effortlessly gave back in his many charitable deeds including hosting various fundraisers such as the Big Thompson Flood in 1976, he was active with the March of Dimes, and his volunteer service as Vice President to El Comite and active member of the Coro San Juan of St. John Baptist Catholic Church. He also would perform Elvis impersonations in the community always free and never did any of it for a single penny. Not only was Rudy Sr. valuable to his own family but he helped a lot of families in all of his selfless deeds. Furthermore, he was the most dedicated and hard-working individual who enjoyed giving and caring for his community by doing what he loved—which was in his own words "keeping the town clean." He enjoyed it so much that he established a business doing what he enjoyed doing. He forever gave his time, resources and money to his community. The community will miss him, for there is no one like him who can do anything he did so well and generously.
Rudy Sr. was kind, gentle, loyal, tough, feisty, and a gracious man with one of the biggest compassionate hearts. He was full of humor as he was a remarkable jokester who loved movies and music. He would keep the people around him entertained as he enjoyed singing, acting, dancing and telling jokes. Furthermore, Rudy truly valued helping everyone around him. He was a giver and would have given everything away if he could have.
Each one of us are going to miss Rudy greatly as he left an imprint on our lives and in our hearts.
It was a joy and honor to know Rudy and each one of us will hold dear to the cherished memories we had with him as they will always remain with us and we thank God we get to see him in Heaven when Jesus returns for his church.
As we all know, Rudy did not like for anyone to be sad, so today he would want us to smile. He would always place a piece of joy within us by telling us a joke or by breaking into a song that seemed to fit the occasion. He truly was a man of faith who left an imprint in the lives of those who knew him.
Rudy is preceded in death by his son, Jesse Maldonado; his father, Jose Maldonado; his brother, Jose Guillermo Maldonado; and his sisters, Magdalena Urban and Irene Molinar.
Those left to cherish Rudy’s memory include his wife of 53 years, Maria Juanita Maldonado; his mother, Maria T. Urban Maldonado; children, Alex (Laura) Maldonado, Rudy Maldonado Jr., and Angela Maldonado; siblings, Cipriano (Kathy) Maldonado and Genoveva Maldonado; grandchildren, Joshua, Izack, Kiley, Shanna, Xylia, Azariah, and Brody; and great-grandchildren, Josh Jr., Novalei, Camilla, and Ezio. Rudy will also be missed by numerous nephews and nieces.
A visitation will be on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at 4pm at Howe Mortuary. The rosary will begin at 6pm. The funeral mass will be held on Thursday, August 29th, 2024 at 10am at St John the Baptist Catholic Church.
We want to leave these final words:
Cherish your time with your loved ones and enjoy every moment with them as the time we have in this world is never certain. May you rest in peace, you will be forever loved and deeply missed, but you are now living the best life ever and we look forward to seeing you again someday. In our best Elvis Presley voice, "Thank you, thank you very much, Elvis has left the building.”
Rudy’s Pallbearers are Rudy Maldonado Jr., Joshua Maldonado, Izack Maldonado, Alias Maldonado, Manuelito Garcia, and Nehemiah Gonzalez.
