
Rudy ?Corky? Martinez died at Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette on May 8, 2007. He was 52.Rudy was born on November 6, 1954 in Denver, Colorado to Ralph and Shirley (Manzararez) Martinez. He grew up in Lafayette and Longmont and enlisted in the United States Army in 1972. He served with the 101st Air Bourne as a Ranger in Vietnam and Germany. He attained the rank of Sergeant.After the service, Rudy attended the University of Northern Colorado and the University of Colorado where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for Public Service Company until he was disabled by an accident.An infant son, Cory Daniel Martinez preceded Rudy in death.He is survived by his beloved life partner, Sharon Cullip of Erie; two sons: Andre Martinez and his wife April of Sacramento, CA and Adam Martinez of Erie; a daughter, Hillary Martinez of Sacramento, CA; his father, Ralph Martinez of Kemmerer, WY; his mother, Shirley Thompson and her husband Joe of Firestone, CO; three brothers: Mark, Mike and Anthony Martinez of Kemmerer, WY; three sisters: Terri Romero and her husband Ron of Longmont, CO, Terasina Bonanini of Helena, MT, Mary Martinez of Laramie, WY; and two grandchildren, Serena and Jasson Martinez of Sacramento, CA.Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at Howe Mortuary with Pastor Corey Seulean of Hopewell Baptist Church officiating. Committal services of the urn and military honors will be held following the memorial service at the Lafayette Cemetery.Cremation arrangements have been handled by Howe Mortuary.
