
Rudy Romero, died April 17, 2007 at the Applewood Living Center. He was 86.Rudy was born on March 21, 1921 in Pina, New Mexico to Tomas Romero and Clemencia Duran. He moved to Colorado as a young man with his family.On November 28, 1940 he married Louise Bustamante in Boulder, Colorado.Rudy began working with his father and brothers in the logging business, providing finished lumber and firewood on land leased at timberline in Rocky Mountain National Park. He later joined the CC Camps, working in the Forestry area for the U.S. Governments job corp. He volunteered and joined the US Army in 194_, serving in the European Theatre in WWII, as part of the prestigious Timberwolve Unit. Mr. Romero became an expert welder, working for the Great Western Sugar Company for many years. He also provided independent contracting in his professional trade.Preceding him in death were brothers Tomas, Rudolph, and William Romero and a sister Ruthie Romero.Surviving are his wife Louise of Longmont, three sons James Romero of Longmont, Gary Romero of Beaverton, Oregon and Ronald Romero and his wife Teri of Longmont, 3 daughters Ruth Gutierrez and her husband LeRoy of Longmont, Judy Fernandez of Longmont, and Emily Romero of Thornton, brothers Ernie, Anthony, John, Ben and David Romero, sisters Elva Romero, Cora Vega, Mary Montano, and Cecelia Graber, 17 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. A Funeral Liturgy service will be held today at 11:00 a.m., at St. John Catholic Church with Deacon Michael Berens officiating. An interment will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery.
