Born on October 28, 1961, in Des Moines, Iowa, she was one of four children born to James and Henrietta (Hooks) Hartshorn.
Ruth graduated from Niwot High School, where she was a proud member of the National Honor Society. She later earned her associate’s degree from Junior College for Electronics, specializing in TV repair and service. On September 28, 1985, Ruth married the love of her life, Neil Dennhardt, and they shared 39 wonderful years together.
Ruth’s first job was with Orange Julius. She also babysat and assisted her dad at the Curtis Mathes store. She later worked at King Soopers in Longmont for 13 years and First Bank in Loveland for two years before finding her professional home at Kroll Factual Data, where she dedicated 18 years. Most recently, Ruth spent a cherished year caring for her granddaughter, Adena, in 2023.
Although not an avid churchgoer, Ruth’s faith was unwavering. She believed deeply in prayer and found great strength in her spirituality.
Ruth found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved football, baseball, hockey, fishing, bowling, cooking, and baking. A warm summer day spent outside with her family was her favorite pastime. Above all, she treasured her role as “Nana” and took great pride in watching her grandchildren grow.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Neil Dennhardt; her two sons, Paul Dennhardt (Jo Beth) and David Dennhardt (Rita); her brother, Jim Hartshorn (Cheryl); her sister, Janet Williams (Ross); and her beloved grandchildren, Sky, Montgomery, and Adena. She also leaves behind nieces, Jamie and Pamala, and nephews, Jonathan and James. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, James and Henrietta Hartshorn, and her brother, Robert Hartshorn.
