
Ruth Maxine (Quigley) Peterson of Longmont, died October 22, 2009 at a local nursing facility. She was 91.Ruth was born on September 21, 1918 in Winterport, Maine to Ralph Lane and Ruby Bean. She was raised in Maine, active in her school in the many athletic endeavors.After marrying Kenneth Quigley, the family moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1956.Ruth opened Ruth's Beauty Salon, first on The Hill in Boulder and later in the newly constructed BaseMar Center after it opened in the late 1960's. She would later take a position with the State of Colorado, as a Cosmetology Inspector around the entire state. She married Hal D. Peterson on December 24, 1985 in Cody, Wyoming.Ruth participated in a number of bowling leagues in Boulder and Longmont until the age of 88. She was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church, Longmont.Preceding her in death were both her husbands and a daughter Mary Moos.Surviving are her son Marty Quigley of Longmont; a daughter Dossie (Rob) Overfield of Cody, Wyoming; a sister Dorothy Whittier of Winterport, Maine; four grandchildren Heath (Bobbi) Overfield, Todd (Jennifer) Overfield, Brooke (Adam) James, and Erin Quigley; and 3 great grandchildren.A cremation has been entrusted to the Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services.Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 30, 2009 at Trinity Baptist Church, with Pastor Sonny Castillega officiating.Contributions may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church, 904 Atwood St. Longmont, CO 80501
