Scott Harris Vande Noord, born September 30th, 1965 in Albuquerque, NM, died April 15, 2021 in Longmont, CO. Scott arrived with his family in Boulder in 1970. He graduated from Boulder HS in 1984 and the University of Northern Colorado in 1988. He was a loving father, son and brother whose keen sense of humor and competitive spirit brought joy and fun to all who knew him. While Scott was most proud of his own children, he also enjoyed all young people and had a gift for understanding and caring for kids. He worked at the Boulder YMCA for nearly 30 years, in their youth programs, where for a significant time he served as Director of “Before and After School Childcare,” running day camps, and other youth athletic activities. It was difficult to distinguish who was enjoying themselves more in all of Scott’s programs...the kids or him? Parent’s trusted that in his care their children would be safe, have fun, and learn the values of cooperation, self-reliance, support, and being part of a team. Scott’s passions were family, friends, pets…especially Charlie, summer’s in Montana, jet skiing, and football. He was the Dallas Cowboy’s number #1 fan. He will be remembered above all for his infectious laugh and ability to find humor in any situation. He is missed by many.
Scott is survived by his parents, Ed and Rhonda Vande Noord, Boulder; his daughter, Dallas Doskey-Vande Noord and son, Harris Doskey-Vande Noord, both of Fort Collins, and sister Kimberly Daugs Vande Noord of Seattle. Private family services will be held on May 8th. Messages of condolence can be left at Howe Mortuary of Longmont. Donations in his memory may be made to the Scott Vande Noord Memorial at Collegiate Crossings to assist low-income, first generation students to achieve their dream of a post-secondary education. Address is 2571 Skyline Court, Erie, CO 80516, or collegiatecrossings.com.
