Shane Michael Deines was born in Fort Collins, CO on October 23rd, 1987 to Mark Deines and Kori Fite Deines. Shane died in his home in Berthoud, CO on January 27th, 2018, at 30 years of age.Shane's family moved to Cheyenne, WY in 1991 where he began school. In third grade, his family relocated to Longmont, CO where he attended Hygiene Elementary School. Shane attended Longmont High School, where he was captain of the football team and on the wrestling squad. Shane loved athletics and excelled in leadership and conditioning. He graduated in 2006. Shortly after graduation, Shane joined the Navy. He completed five weeks of BUDS training with the Navy SEALs, and was later stationed in Hawaii as a submarine cryptologist.After the Navy, Shane returned to Longmont and became a Crossfit coach and Volunteer Firefighter for Lyons Fire Department. He aided the community in the 2013 flood evacuation and recovery. Shane was employed by AMR as an EMT in 2013, serving alongside the Longmont Firefighters. In 2015, Shane became a Longmont Firefighter and graduated from the Front Range Fire Consortium Fire Academy (Class 2015-2). Shane began his career on C Shift at Station 4. He later graduated from Paramedic Training at St. Anthony's, becoming a fire medic. Shane was selected to join Longmont SWAT as a medic. Shane loved the brotherhood of the fire and SWAT crews and the responsibility of helping his community. Shane's hobbies included coaching and competing in Crossfit and Olympic lifting, playing the guitar, and reading. He enjoyed hiking with his wife Nikki and their two Australian Shepherds, Lhotse and Koshi.Shane married Stephanie Nicole Whitney (Nikki), the daughter of Char and Charlie Johnson, and Richard Whitney. They were married on August 25th, 2016 in Hermit Park near Estes Park, CO. This past summer they moved to Berthoud, CO.Shane is survived by his wife Nikki, and his son Duke S. Dennis, born Dec. 22nd, 2015, in addition to his parents, Mark and Kori Deines, his brother, Jonathan Light his wife and son, Ellie and Noah, his younger brother, Brandon Deines and wife Nicole. He is also survived by his grandparents Curt and Dorsey Deines of Berthoud, CO, his grandmother Dotti Fite of Longmont, CO, in addition to many cousins, aunts and uncles. Shane will be dearly missed by his brotherhood of First Responders.In honor of Shane's career as a firefighter, we are asking for funeral attendees to dress in blue. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to www.foundation1023.org.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 6th at 11:00 am at Life Bridge Christian Church, located at 10345 Ute Hwy, Longmont CO 80504. An honor guard of firefighters will escort the funeral procession to Mountain View Cemetery for interment. The reception will follow at Fire Station 1, located at 1070 Terry Street in Longmont, CO.
