It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Sheri LePore on January 8, 2025, at the age of 80, following her short battle with cancer. Sheri passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her devoted family.
Born January 6, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, Sheri was the daughter of the late Binford Duff Cardinal and Lillian Ann (Chodur), both career marines. Sheri married Del Ray LePore on September 28, 1980, her true inspiration, best friend and the love of her life. Del passed away in 2014 and her heart was forever in mourning. Sheri also lost her middle daughter, Kim Puzo, in 2020, leaving a big hole in her heart.
Sheri was a “marine brat” and therefore lived in several places. She was proud that she moved her family to Longmont in 1966 and made this their forever home. Her greatest love was her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved fishing and dancing with her partner, Del, and watching the Broncos and all the other Colorado sports teams with her family. Sheri will be remembered for her strong family values and being “mom” and “grandma” to so many people outside of her own family.
Sheri is survived by her children Wendi (Ced) Nafziger, Craig (Jo Ann) Hammer, and Sheridon (TJ) Simington. Her grandchildren Joshua (Laura) Nafziger, Jeramy Puzo, Austin Hammer, Ryan (Elizabeth) Nafziger, Caitlin Simington, Jay Simington, Shayla Simington, Robert Hatheway, Kyle Hatheway and Christina Lopez. Her great-grandchildren April Puzo, Tyson Hammer and Baileigh Simington.
Sheri is further survived by her sister-in-law, Joy Cardinal, her children Stacy (Jason) Carter, Paige (Ron) Wolk, and Christy Rowsey. Her sister-in-law, Carol Wilson (Chuck), her children Rehnay Bradford (Bob) and Kirk Bradford (Michelle). Her cousins Tres (Barb) Wyatt, his sons Cameron & Turner, Lane (Jean) Wyatt, Tim Wyatt, and Riede (Carole) Wyatt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Del Ray LePore, her daughter Kim Puzo, and her brother Frank “Buzz” Cardinal.
A visitation for Sheri will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Howe Mortuary of Longmont, Colorado. On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. a Celebration of Life will take place at Howe Mortuary of Longmont. At 1:00 p.m. Sheri will be laid to rest with her husband Del Ray at Mountain View Cemetery in Longmont, Colorado. A reception will follow at her home.
In lieu of flowers, Sheri’s wishes were to have donations made to the Wounded Warrior Project with great respect for her military family.
Sheri’s love, kindness, generosity and sincere caring of everyone around her will be greatly missed and treasured by all that knew her.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.howemortuary.com for the LePore family.
