Sherry was born on July 31, 1952 in Denver to Harold Stewart and Bernadine Gass Stewart. Raised in Erie, she graduated from Erie High School in 1970, where she was a cheerleader and participated in student council.
Sherry married her high school sweetheart David Bauer on April 16, 1971 in Frederick, Colorado. They moved to Longmont shortly thereafter. She assisted her husband with his new business, Bauer’s Electric, providing the office and accounting responsibilities.
After the birth of her sons, Sherry spent time at home before joining the St. Vrain Valley School District. Employed by the District for over 20 years, Sherry worked several positions before she became the Principal’s Secretary at Skyline High School. She enjoyed her involvement with the school, staff and students.
For many years she and Dave’s lives were centered around their sons and their activities. Sherry dearly loved watching her boys play competitive baseball during the summers and cheering for them as they participated on the Skyline baseball team. They spent countless hours traveling the state and region, sitting in the bleachers, watching their boys, with great joy.
Always providing space, food and fun for Chris, Brian and their friends, Sherry made her home an inviting place to enjoy time with friends and family. From family reunions to weekend barbeques, Sherry’s life was always centered on what meant the most to her; her family and friends. She was a Disney fan to the extreme, having been to Disney World on 13 occasions, never failing to find more to see while having great fun.
The family purchased a cabin up the Poudre Canyon a number of years ago. This provided endless enjoyment for many family outings and friends to share fun and fishing the Poudre. She enjoyed the sport of fishing becoming quite accomplished through the years. They recently joined the Marshall Lake Club, where they spent weekends camping and fishing the lake. Movies were Sherry’s other love, either going to the theatre or viewing her extensive home collection on a regular basis.
Preceding her in death are her parents.
Surviving are her husband of Longmont; two sons Christian (Heidi) Bauer and Brian (Jessica) Bauer all of Thornton; two brothers David (LaVonne) Stewart of Longmont and Mike (Gail) Stewart of Gray, Tennessee; three sisters Judy (Ray) Athey of Longmont; Tammy Cosner of Berthoud; and Susie (Rick) Kupfner of Superior. She is further survived by her beloved grandchildren Joshua, Alexandra and Dane Bauer.
