My condolences to the family and friends. The loss of a loved one is very painful, we grieve, but do not lose hope.  We positively look to â€œthe God of all comfortâ€ for strength. (2 Cor. 1:3, 4) May God give you all the strength you need during these difficult times.  I know personally how heartbreaking it is to lose a loved one but is uplifting to know that the God promises us in Isaiah 65:17 a near future in which not only we wonâ€™t feel this horrid pain in our hearts when we lose a loved one, but we wonâ€™t even remember how it felt as he promises to resurrect them. (1 Thessalonian 5:17, Revelation 21:4 Psalms 37:29, Acts 24:15)

Sherry and I met about 63 years ago when she and her family moved into my neighborhood on Martin Street. We immediately became great friends playing together and just being kids. We did the regular kid things of the 1950's. Riding bikes, playing hopscotch and jacks,, playing school, restaurant and house We took beginners swimming classes at Sunset when it was sand, except for where the diving boards were on the West side, and had the raft out in the middle usually with some snapping turtles on it. Mrs. Pennington made Sherry and I towel capes with draw strings around the neck, which could also be used for towels to dry ourselves and sit on. Mine was green, Sherry's was yellow. Neither of us passed the swimming test. We went to First Christian Church for Sunday School and would make a jog over to Colorado Creamery for ice cream cones for the walk back home to Martin Street.We ate together at my folk's or Sherry's and stayed all night with each other too many times to remember. I thought of Sherry as my sister during those years. My folks took us to Lakeside. Elitch'es and camping. Mostly at Wild Basin. One year we were Purple People Eaters in the Pet and Doll Parade. (I wish I could find that picture to add to the pictures here,) Our Mother's made our costumes. We helped with the horns and sewing the eye(s) on the purple  nylon stocking that would cover our faces. We had to help each other walk in the right direction because neither of us could see real well. Then came the day that Sherry told me she and her family were moving to Arizona (I think Tucson) because of her Mom's heart condition. Sherry gave me a picture of her and some other things to remember her by and we cried. We wrote back and forth a lot. One day she wrote that she and her family were coming back home to Longmont. Except they ended up in Jamestown, cause Sherry's Dad was a miner. Our friendship picked-up right where it left off. Sherry's Mom would either pick me up on weekends and take me back to Jamestown with her or we would go get Sherry. We would spend the weekend together doing whatever with one Mom driving one way and the other the other way. Once when Sheey and her Mom came to pick me up Sherry had a surprise. He cute black and white puppy named Susie. Shery and her family then moved to Gay Street in Longmont. We still got together, Then her family moved back to Martin Street, only this time they lived blocks from my house. We still got together but not as much. We got a call one day that Sherry's Mom had died. Mom and I went to the Pennington's house. I didn't get much of a chance to talk to Sherry. There was too much going on so we didn't stay long. After that I didn't see much of my old friend. We heard she had moved in with her Aunt and Uncle on the West side of town. When I was a freshman at the old LHS on Main I would see Sherry every once in a while but never long enough to have a conversation. That was when Sherry was a sopomore. She had a yellow vespa that she would ride to school on. Then she disappeared and I didn't see her for a long time. She later told me that she started going to Boulder High, which is where she graduated from. Sherry showed-up at my folk's house one day and told me that she was marrying Bob Labor. She ask if I would sit at the guestbook. Well, of course I would!! Then Bob went off to the service and we lost touch again. Later I would run into Sherry at Joslin's. Our daughter Amy was working there then too. Dave and I would also shee Sherry at Croc warehouse sales. Buying Crocs for our people like our Grandkids. Sherry and I would visit at Class of '66's Class Reunions. The last one, the 50th, we were both sitting there laughing and crying from all our wonderful memories of our Magical childhood friendship. And it was amazing to me that she remember all the things I did. Even when she found an arrowhead in a pile of gravel that was near the Democratic Picnic my folks took us to in the mountains.Sherry, while I was looking for photos of you and came across your LHS sophomore photo, I read thewhat you had written on the back. Beside the your a cute girl and be good to the boys stuff. You wrote, Be good and don't forget me Love ya, SherryI will NEVER forget you dear friend, You will always be a big part of my life and I have the wonderful memories we made together.Sally Darby Sauer

Rob, Jen, Lindsey & families - No words.  It's obvious that you all have been through a great deal in the last couple of years with both of your parents and I am so sorry that you have had to experience such sorrow.  Your mother was one of the nicest people I've ever known and I have nothing but fond memories of her and her sweet smile. I also remember her exasperation with us as teenagers, but even then she was a very gentle person.  I feel blessed to have known your family during my childhood, adolescence and beyond.  May your memories of both of them warm your hearts and bring joy to your families for years to come.  You are all in my thoughts and prayers now and in the coming days.

Jen-I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I remember her visiting  when we worked at Trade Secets and I always thought she was one of the sweetest people. She will live on inside your heart forever; I know she was so special to you. my sincere condolences to you and your family. Sending  prayers of strength and peace. 

Jennifer, I was so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. My condolences to the entire family.  Cherish all of your memories.

The entire post press department at Leanin' Tree would like to offer our condolences to Sherry's family.  What a strong, courageous, classy, determined, hardworking, quiet, fun lady.  Many of us worked with Sherry for over 15 years and over the last year were shown an example of someone who was suffering and carrying a burden but was so strong and positive in her life and actions.  We will truly miss her.  Personally, Sherry was a lot of fun out of work and loved to go with the ladies for a night out to hear some music and spend some down time.  She also knew her trivia and one memory was this past December as we were doing year end inventory at work and we had a little down time so our department had a trivia contest, Sherry was hands down the winner and knew all the movie and celebrity categories.  We will always remember her and are here for the family if you need anything.      Debbie
