Shirley Jean Hurt

Shirley Jean Hurt (93), beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2017. Shirley was born on July 1, 1924 in Kersey, CO. She graduated from Greely High School in 1942. During her life, she lived in California and Texas, but always returned to her beloved Colorado, living in Mead for almost 50 years.

Shirley devoted her life to her family and friends. She was always there to share her strength with anyone who needed help. She loved life, music, animals, bowling, playing bridge, baking and shopping to find good deals. She was an expert canner and made the best ever pickles!

Shirley leaves behind her children, Sue Schwind (Dave), and Leonard Hurt; grandchildren, Shannon (Jason), Kelly (Chas), Daemen, John, Raechel (Brian) and Jason (Charlea); and great-grandchildren, Sammantha, Seth, Madison, and Jesse. In addition to her parents, Shirley was proceeded in death by her sister Peggy, her husband Wilbur, her daughter Peggy, and her first husband, Jack, who was lost in WWII.
