February 26, 1948 – October 26, 2025
Steelman Royal Polhamus, age 77, of Longmont, Colorado, passed away on October 26, 2025, surrounded by love. Born on February 26, 1948, in Bridgeton, New Jersey, to Steelman Harris Polhamus and Alberta Pearl (DelCollo) Polhamus, Steelman lived a life filled with purpose, adventure, and deep devotion to family and community.
After graduating from Vineland Senior High School in 1967, Steelman attended Temple University before proudly serving in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1971. His time in the service shaped his lifelong sense of duty, discipline, and patriotism.
In 1980, Steelman married his soulmate, Jean Ann (Landis) Polhamus, and together they built a life that was truly their own—full of laughter, friendship, and shared adventures. Whether working side by side or exploring the outdoors, Steelman and Jean were an inseparable team for 45 beautiful years.
A Master Electrician by trade, Steelman was known for his incredible skill, precision, and work ethic. Beyond his career, he and Jean dedicated countless hours volunteering with the Longmont Emergency Unit, providing fire support, emergency response, paramedic assistance, vehicle extrication, and ice rescue. Helping others came naturally to him—it was simply who he was.
Steelman found his greatest peace in the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, and camping with Jean and their friends. In later years, the two enjoyed winter escapes in their RV, traveling to Mississippi and Texas, always making new memories and new friends along the way.
He was also a proud and active member of the Loyal Order of Moose since 1994, earning the esteemed Pilgrim Degree in 2018. He held memberships with the VFW and the American Legion, reflecting his enduring pride in his service and his community.
Steelman is survived by his beloved wife, Jean; daughter Christina C. Grandmaison (Patrick Alsedek); son Shane Polhamus; brothers Keith E., Drew A., and Troy B. Polhamus; and his cherished grandchildren, Quennton M. Thornbury and K. Reilly Grandmaison.
He also leaves behind a large extended family and many friends who were blessed by his kindness, humor, and steadfast spirit.
Those who knew Steelman will remember his generous heart, his strength, and his unwavering love for his family, friends, community, and country.
