

He was born in Denver, Colorado on February 17, 1932, to Clyde and Irene (Lokie) Hoskin. He grew up in Littleton where he graduated from Littleton High School with the class of 1950. He had a younger brother, Newell C. Hoskin, born January 7, 1938, who preceded him in death.
He served with the US Army during the Korean War, from 1951 to 1953.
He married Freda Ruth Duncan on June 9, 1956 in Littleton, Colorado. She survives him at their home in Berthoud, Colorado. Other survivors include a son, Jeffrey A. Hoskin, also of Berthoud, Colorado, a daughter, Elizabeth A. (Hoskin) Speakman, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, and a granddaughter, Hessa R. Miller, of Westminster, Colorado.
Stephen attended the University of Colorado where he earned a Bachelor of Science Business degree in accounting, graduating in June, 1958. After graduation, he worked for the Southern Counties Gas Company in California until moving back to Colorado in 1960. Steve then worked for the Denver Water Board, the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), Ball Aerospace, Colorado Rocky Mountain School, the Geological Society of America, Lovett Ski Corporation, Baptist Home Association, United Airlines Air Crew Training, and Boeing (consulting at the Johnson Space Center in Houston). Steve then did accounting consulting and computer system implementation until his retirement.
Steve was an avid railroad enthusiast his entire life, taking train trips, chasing steam engines, and collecting all sorts of train memorabilia. He also spent thousands of hours researching the family genealogy, tracing family connections back many generations to the early 1500’s, and proved family lineage to the Daughters of the Revolution, the Mayflower Society, Colonial Dames, and the Sons and Daughters of the Pilgrims.
Cremation is entrusted to Howe Mortuary & Crematory of Longmont, Colorado. Inurnment will take place at the Pleasant Park Cemetery in Conifer, Colorado.
