IN THE CARE OF
Ahlberg Funeral Chapel
Steve, 69, passed away in Longmont on March 19, 2023. He was born in Longmont, CO on July 12, 1953.
Steve spent most of his childhood in Longmont, earning a football champion title in Punt, Pass, and Kick, but eventually focusing on his passion in the game of golf. He graduated from LHS and PGA School, then moved on to Douglas, WY where he owned Douglas Country Club Pro-Shop and became a successful Head Golf-Professional. Life eventually lead Steve into a successful retail management career.
He also had a green thumb in gardening, loved fishing, cooked some amazing dishes, including his famous chili, could fix and rebuild anything he put his mind to… but, his passion was always golf. After Steve’s journey took him through several states and moves, it lead him back to Longmont where he became an Assistant Golf-Professional at Twin Peaks Golf Course, teaching countless golf lessons to kids and adults and proudly sharing about his kids and grandkids.
He is survived by his mother, H. Joanna Kunselman; his sister and her spouse, Sharon and John Blank; his children and their spouses, Thomas and Shawna Kunselman, Tina and Kasey Perry, Allysa and Chad Whitesides; six grandchildren, Jonah and Jaret Kunselman, Kenneth, Kyper, and Kaelynn Perry, Kaileiya Whitesides; as well as, nieces and nephews, and many dear friends, including his special friend, Jenn Atchley. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Kunselman.
A Celebration of Steve's Life was held Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Twin Peaks Golf Course in Longmont. The family extends their gratitude to all those who were able to attend and remember Steve together.
