

Stewart Ellis Poet, 90, of Niwot, CO, died peacefully at home on April 7, 2022. He was born to Seth and Thelma Poet March 1, 1932 in Cripple Creek, CO. He spent his childhood moving from place to place with his Navy family. He graduated from the School of Mines and worked as a gold miner, teacher, research scientist, and nuclear radio chemist.
Stewart married Jocelyn Ann Gunselman August 14, 1955 and together they raised their family of five on their beloved farm north of Niwot.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, older sister, wife Jocelyn, and son Rawley.
Survivors include his sons; Randy (Susan), Steve (Charlotte), and Jeff (Laura) as well as his daughter Josanne (Chris), daughter-in-law Brenda and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Stewart was famous for his organic raspberries and gladiolas. He loved his garden, animals, music, and grandkids. He will be dearly missed by his family, neighbors, and Hospice caregivers.
Cremation took place at Ahlberg Funeral Home. Cards can be sent to the family there. A celebration of Stewart’s life will be held at Poet Farm later in the summer.
