

Susan Schneider-Judson was born the fifth of seven children to Eleanor K. (Rodenberg) and Henry R. Schneider in Longmont, Colorado. She grew up on a farm south of Longmont and attended Longmont High School, and later Colorado State University, earning her bachelor's degree in language arts. She was the first person in her family to attend college. In 1972, she started teaching language arts at Byers High School. In 1979 she started at Fort Lupton High School where she would go on to win a master teacher award, chair the language arts department, and work the rest of her thirty year career, retiring in 2002. She was known to do anything to help a student, if they wanted to succeed.In high school she met Jon Judson in choir while they were both in a production of Down in the Valley. They were reacquainted in 1976 when, after starting with the state patrol, Jon stopped her for speeding. While she didn't get a ticket that day, they were married on June 23, 1984. On August 2, 1987, their son Jon Jr. (Jay) was born.Sue, Jon, and Jay were a very close family. They stayed almost five hundred nights in their Airstream trailer, racking up almost 40,000 miles. On summer vacations, they visited almost every state, going coast to coast, border to border, Hawaii, and Canada. In 2015, the family traveled to Sweet Grass, MT to see the port her grandparents crossed, on that date, 100 years earlier.After retiring, she spent two years researching her familys entire history. She always loved sewing and later on became an avid quilter and enjoyed hosting lunches for her quilting friends. She was a reader, a life long learner and someone who could have a conversation with anyone about anything. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Allan and Dennis, and her mother and father. She is survived by her son Jon Jr, and husband Jon of Longmont. She is also survived by four brothers, Dallas (wife Marge), Jerry (wife Margaret), Jim and David Schneider of Longmont.Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM, funeral service at 10:00 AM both Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
