Thelbert Wilson Andrews Jr. passed away at the age of 76 in Longmont, Colorado on March 01, 2026. He was born in Olney, Texas on April 27, 1949, to Thelbert Wilson Andrews Sr. and Lottie Velma Gregg. He had one sister, Carla Jean Andrew. Later the family moved to Colorado, where he graduated from high school.
Thelbert was always a hard worker. Even when he was a boy, he would spend time with his father at his cafeteria as one of the cooks. After that he worked in the oil fields of Texas for a time, then he found a good job in the manufacturing field and stuck with it until he retired.
Thelbert’s greatest joy was found in the music he loved. There was not a song or artist or fact from the rock ‘n roll genre of the 60’s or 70’s he could not recall - and was always thrilled to talk about. He spent many hours with his friends both listening to and talking about music, most especially classic rock. His album and CD collection was extensive; one friend even recalled he thought there must be at least 1000 of them.
Thelbert was a good friend to many people. Anyone who was lucky enough to count him as a friend knew they could call him any time on any day, and he would be there for them. He loved to go do things and was always up for a good time. He really knew how to have fun in whatever situation he was in.
Thelbert truly was one of a kind – you will never meet anyone else quite like him. He was free-spirited, outgoing, kind, funny, and definitely lived his life to the fullest.
Thelbert was preceded in death by his parents: Thelbert Wilson Andrews Sr. and Lottie Velma Gregg, as well as his sister: Carla Jean Andrew.
Thelbert is survived by about 29 cousins: residing in Texas, New Mexico, California, and Pennsylvania, as well as many, many friends.
Thelbert will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Thelbert's Celebration of Life will take place at Howe Mortuary (439 Coffman St, Longmont) on Friday, 03/13/2026, at 2:00 PM. All friends are welcome.
