Ted grew up on a farm in Ohio. He studied at Ohio State University and was a life-long Buckeye fan. In 1954 he married Yvonne Ragan of Wilmington, OH and together they raised three sons. In 1979 they divorced, and Ted moved west to Colorado and lived the remainder of his life in Longmont. In 1982 he married Leola (Benavidez) Chavez and gained two stepchildren from this union.
Ted worked for many years as a machinist for NCR. He became a buyer and worked for StorageTek in Louisville, CO. He later transitioned into Real Estate and worked for local agencies: Four Seasons, Coldwell Banker, and Keller Williams.
Ted enjoyed fishing, gardening, skiing, cycling, cooking, playing the piano, classical music, in particular the pipe organ, family activities and traveling. Together with his wife he traveled the world, exploring 25 countries on three continents. He always said Paris was his favorite city.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Thelma Cline; brother Carl Cline; sister, Kathleen (Cline) Dixon; son, Jeff Chavez; and grandson, Tyler Cline.
Ted is survived by his wife of 40 years, Leola “Lee” Cline; sons: Thomas Cline of Wilmington, OH; James Cline of Broomfield, CO; and Richard Cline of Loveland, CO; daughter, Jennifer Chavez of Maple Valley, WA; grandchildren: Matthew Cline of Denver, CO; Patrick Cline of Boulder, CO; Charlotte and Elijah Hartman of Maple Valley, WA.
A mass and celebration of his life will take place on January 20, 2023. 10:00 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont followed by a Reception in Benedict Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation in Ted’s name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Disease research.
