Timothy “T.C.” Scott Cain, passed away on Monday December 2, 2024 following a courageous battle with cancer. Born to Wilton “Bill” Cain and Dorothy “Dot” (Kropp) Cain in Moline, Illinois on September 7, 1961, Tim was 63 years old. Raised on the Mississippi River in Cordova, Illinois, Tim was happiest spending a day on the water fishing. He was his father’s son; calm, stoic, observant, smart, patient, a gentle dad and teacher to his daughter Rosie… and a little mischievous too. He was his mother’s son; always respectful, helpful, and loved everything she cooked, especially her chocolate chip cookies. He attended Riverdale High School in Port Byron, Illinois where he played football and is fondly remembered by friends there as “Harley”.
Following high school, he moved to Des Moines, Iowa where he graduated Lincoln Technical College and began his 42-year career as a master Automotive Technician. He moved to the Front Range area in 1985 and a few years later began working at McCaddon Cadillac, Buick, GMC in Boulder, Colorado where he worked for 33 years.
Tim married Nancy Botsch on October 22, 1995. 1995 marked another important milestone in Tim’s life; Opening Day for the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. An avid sports fan, Tim purchased a brick at Coors Field while it was being built, held season tickets, and enjoyed traveling to spring training games in Arizona where his parents wintered. He also enjoyed camping and spending time in nature; Rocky Mountain National Park, Grand Teton National Park, and Grand Lake having been some of his favorite places to visit. Tim and Nancy’s daughter Rosie was born in 1998 and shortly after Tim traded in his Harley Davidson motorcycle for a camper and new adventures. The family spent multiple spring breaks in Moab, Utah camping and ATV riding. Every Cain/Kropp family gathering includes a game of Shanghai Rummy and while Tim hosted the occasional poker game, family dinners were also an occasion for cards and dominos.
He is survived by his wife Nancy, his daughter Rosie (Alex Mohr) Cain of Washington, DC, two sisters Barbara Jean Oberg and Linda (Charles) Obligato, his mother-in-law Jean Botsch, and multiple cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and multiple dogs (Dammit, Lucy, and Joey) all of whom experienced his graciousness and were echoes of his gentle soul. Tim will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, and although a man of few words, a joyful friend who knew how to throw one heck of a party. He weathered all life’s storms with dignity, a trait that was an inspiration to those around him.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday December 7, 2024 at 10:30am at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 3700 Baseline Road, Boulder, Colorado 803030.
In lieu of flowers please make donations in Tim’s honor to your local Humane Society.
Cremation is entrusted to Howe Mortuary & Crematory of Longmont, Colorado.
