Vera Belle Strong (Weaver)

Vera Belle Strong, 88, of Broomfield, formerly of Lafayette, died April 1, 2014 at the Broomfield Skilled Nursing Center. She was born a fraternal twin on February 1, 1926 in Harlingen, TX to Everett and Zola Belle (Wilhelm) Weaver.

Vera married at the young age of 17, had her children, and was on her own from approximately the age of 26. She kept her four children together and through the grace of God raised them to the best of her ability. She was a nurse for her working life and will be remembered for her willingness to help anyone whenever necessary. She loved sewing and made many of her children’s clothes. Vera could regularly be seen taking her four children to church on Sunday, assuring them of their Savior’s love, and celebrating her love of the 23rd Psalm.

Survivors include her children Allen R. Strong of Lafayette, Kay Brown of Powderly, Texas and Deborah L. Strong of Alabama. She is further survived by 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and one sister that lives in California.

Services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, at the First Baptist Church of Lafayette.
