

Viola Mae Leuch passed away on September 18, 2014 at the Life Care Center of Longmont. She was 97 years old.She was born September 26, 1916 in St. Paul, Nebraska to Roy and Alice Scott. Viola graduated from Cairo High School, Cairo, Nebraska. She moved to Brush, CO in 1936 to live with an aunt and uncle and work in their grocery store. It was there she met her future husband, Neil Leuch, who delivered bread to the store. Viola and Neil were married on September 3, 1940 in Grand Island, NE.Following Neil's discharge from the US Army in 1946 they lived in Fort Morgan, CO until moving to Longmont in 1951.Viola spent many years as a loving wife, mother and homemaker raising her two children. In 1964 she went to work as a cook at Columbine Elementary School, retiring in 1979.She was a member of LifeBridge Christian Church, where she was a long time participant in the Friendly Folks Sunday School class. Viola was also an active member and Past President of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 32. Neil and Viola were members of the Denver Drum and Bugle Corps with the Legion, traveling all over the nation to various events.Viola enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing card games, especially at Hover Manor, traveling with Neil in their motor home and also on bus trips to Canada, Alaska and Washington, DC, going out to eat, camping and spending time at Beaver Lake. She is remembered for her love of family and friends and socializing.She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Evelyn who died at age 16 in 1931 and Mary Brundage in 2006, and her husband Neil in 2007.Viola is survived by her daughter Paulette (John) Sumner of Shawano, WI, son Rick (Francie) Leuch of Brighton, CO, brother James (Wanda) Scott of Broomfield, CO, 5 grandchildren Brent (Megan) Sumner, Ellorie (Chris) Sonne, Ryan (Brooke) Sumner, Matthew (Teresa) Leuch and Timothy (Stacey) Leuch, 11 great grandchildren Zoie, Hallie and Heidi Leuch, Tyler and Trevor Leuch, Brady Sumner, Payton, Harrison and Paige Sonne and Remy and Rowan Sumner.Visitation will be from Noon to 2pm on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. The family will be present to greet friends. Funeral services will be at 11:00am Monday, Sept. 22 at LifeBridge Christian Church, with viewing beginning at 10:00am. Interment at Foothills Gardens of Memory.
