Violet Lucille Schaefer

Violet Lucille Schaefer, age 91 of Longmont, CO passed peacefully at TRU Community Care Hospice Center in Boulder, CO on Friday, August 5th, 2016, and is now with her long time soul mate and husband, Gene, in Heaven. She was born on May 17th, 1925 to Herman Bernard and Ellen Rea Woisin in Manhattan, New York, and was proud to be from the Empire State. Her father, Herman, was born in Germany and her Mother, Ellen, was born in Ireland. Violet grew up in New York City, and was one of eight siblings. She attended school through the tenth grade, worked as a bank teller, and in a defense plant making jeep parts during WW ll. She married Eugene A. Schaefer on May 11th, 1946, in Astoria, New York. Together they lived and worked in New York City until they moved to Lexington Kentucky in 1956, and then finally to Longmont Colorado in 1973.

Her proudest achievements were raising her son, Donald, and providing a beautiful and comfortable home for her husband Gene and family. She also helped care for her grandchild, Ashley, and her mother-in-law, Eva. Her favorite activities were socializing with friends, playing and watching golf, going out to lunch with family and friends, and being with her family on holidays and special occasions. She loved her family and friends dearly. Being an avid reader of the local newspapers, she always had something interesting to share with everyone.

She is survived by her son, Donald, and his wife, Julianne, of Loveland CO. Granddaughter, Ashley, and her fiancée JT of Denver CO. Julianne’s sister, Valerie of Greely CO, and Valerie’s Son, Evan. Julianne’s sister, Aimee, of Atlanta GA, Julianne’s mother, Bonnie, of Atlanta GA. She is preceded in death by Husband Gene; mother Ellen Rea and father Herman Bernard; brothers Clifton, Lawrence, Lloyd Herman (Buster), and Gerald; sisters Mable, Dorothy, and Edith.
