On June 14, 1931, Virginia Irene George was born in Tie Siding, Wyoming to Violet and Owen George. As a child she lived on nearby ranches before moving to Louisville, Colorado. Virginia is survived by her sons, her granddaughter Kristin Dionigi and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Virginia was preceded in death by her sisters Barbara and Maxine and her brother Donald.
Virginia will be remembered fondly as a generous, compassionate, and energetic person of great intellectual curiosity. As a life-long advocate for the natural world she was active in several environmental organizations, and she was a recognized bird expert. She traveled widely. She loved children, plants, pets, gardening, and all things living. She was dearly loved in return.
