She was born April 2, 1957, to Dr. Milton Latoni-Camarena and Orpha Rosado-Ramirez in West Palm Beach, Florida, where Vivian’s father was stationed with the USAF Dental Service. Vivian grew up in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, with a 2-year stint in Redlands, CA during the early 1970’s while her father was doing specialist study in dentistry. In 1975, she graduated from the Robinson School in San Juan, and later graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secretarial Sciences. During her working career, she was employed as an Executive Assistant, primarily in the banking industry. She met her future husband, Steve, at the wedding of Steve’s brother and a Latoni family friend. After a few years of dating, they married on April 14, 1984 in Rio Piedras. Steve and Vivian made their home in Walnut Creek, CA, where in 1991 a daughter, Rebecca Elizabeth was born to them. In 1998, the family moved to Longmont, CO, a locale that they came to quickly love. Vivian developed many friendships in Puerto Rico, California, and Colorado, and cherished them all to the very end.
Despite a neuromuscular condition that limited her physical abilities later in life, Vivian persevered without complaint. She was a wonderful wife and partner to Steve and a magnificent mother to Rebecca. She was a voracious reader of romance novels, enjoyed watching televised sports with her husband (often adopting his favorite teams at her peril), and expended great effort to ensure that her family was healthy, happy, and protected.
Vivian is survived by husband Stephen S. Williams and daughter Rebecca Elizabeth Williams, both of Longmont, along with sisters Myrna Latoni of Guaynabo, PR, Lizette Swensen (husband Craig) of Gahanna, OH, brother Milton I. Latoni (wife Evelyn) of San Juan, PR, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Per Vivian’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and no services are planned. At a later date, her ashes will be scattered near the family beach house at Playas del Yunque in Rio Grande, PR, where she spent many happy hours with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, she requests that assistance be given to someone in need, even if that assistance is a simple act of kindness or love.
