Wayne began a second career with the U.S. Postal Service in La Crosse, WI and retired a second time in 2000. In 2008, Wayne and Carolyn moved to Colorado to spend more time with their grandchildren. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Serving others was one of the things Wayne enjoyed doing the most. He served through his church, Habitat for Humanity, and Southern Baptist Disaster Relief. Wayne was also an avid gardener, enjoying raising vegetables and flowers alike. Fishing, especially at the family lake house in East TX, and photography were much enjoyed pastimes.

Carolyn, Mark & Paul, we are thinking of you at this time. Wayne was a humble and kind man who, along with Carolyn, I appreciated as a second set of parents during my adolescence. May the Lord comfort and keep you in your sorrow. Love, Verla

I will always remember the love that Wayne shared with me he truly cared for me and my family. Because of Wayne I came to know the Lord, when we first came to Gospel Baptist Church in Sparta Wisconsin we came in a couple of minutes late and Wayne gave us a hymnal and showed us where we were in the hymn, that hymn was "Because He Lives".
Because of Wayne I learned how to care for people and how to serve in God's Church.
Wayne was always there to help and encourage.
Wayne encouraged me to sing my first solo I believe it was one of his favorites , that hymn was "Fill My Cup Lord"
Now Wayne you are with Jesus and your cup is filled and you are whole again.
You will be truly missed.
I am so thankful that I had the privilege to be your friend, and I am so thankful that you were my mentor.
Thank You Wayne
