Wesley R. Thompson, of Longmont died November 6, 2011 at his home. He was 93 years old.Wesley was born on May 24, 1918, the last child of six born to James E. and Daisy (Wickizer) Thompson. Wesley's father was one of the first three men to bring Hereford cattle to the U.S., particularly Missouri, Texas and Colorado, in the 1880s.Wesley honorably served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during World War II, stationed on the tip of the Aleutian Islands. Wesley worked for 20 years as a heavy equipment operator at Martin Marietta Cement Plant in Lyons. He enjoyed cars and riding and touring motorcycles.He was preceded in death by a son, David Lieber and five brothers and sisters.A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM “ 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. There are no other services being held for Wesley. Cremation will follow the visitation at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
