April 11, 1945March 17, 2020

William D. Bustamante, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, passed away in Erie, Colorado on March 17, 2020. He was born on April 11, 1945 in Longmont, to the late Isadora Olguin and Edward Bustamante. William (Willie), grew up and attended schools in Longmont, with his 3 brothers: Louie, Felix and John, and 8 sisters: Grace, Louise, Ann, Mary, Barbara, Carol, Bernadette, Virginia. Willie joined the Army in 1965 and served his country in the Vietnam War as a medic. After spending a few years in the military, he left to return home and began his relationship with Mona Zamudio. After dating the love of his life for a year, Willie married Mona in December of 1969. They were married for 50 years. Willie pursued a career with the postal service in 1969 and lived with Mona in Boulder, Co. He retired from the postal service in 2006 after 36 wonderful years. Willie was the proud father of three children: Brandon (48), Matthew (46) and Lisa (40). He had six grandchildren: Dax (17) Dominic (16) Gabriella (16) Mia (8) Dawson (7) Arianna (6). Family and friends were extremely important in his life. Willie enjoyed taking his ‘39 Pontiac to car shows, taking his family on vacations, hunting with his nephew Louie and friends, and most of all, teaching his family how to fly fish while camping in Wyoming. Hunting and fishing were his favorite hobbies and passions. Willie never knew a stranger. He made friends easily and effortlessly. He touched everyone he met. He was a kind, generous, and caring man, whose spirit lit up every room he entered. Willie will be remembered for his funny moments with people, his contagious personality, his loyalty to his friends and family, his inspiration to his kids, and the never-ending love he had for his wife Mona.

I know he will be missed by many and thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family. I will always remember his calm demeanor, wit, sense of humor and our many fishing trips together. He was easy to have a conversation with and always seemed happiest around friends and family, especially on the river with a fly rod in his hand. Though I will miss those times, I will always smile when I think Of Will.

Mona, Brandon, Matt, Lisa and Family,
I am so sorry for the loss of Willie. I was lucky enough to get to spend a part of my life with him. I have nothing but the best memories of him. From fly fishing at the Mile to eating all of his salsa on Mona's rice. We also might of sneaked a few beers together in the garage saying we were going to look at the green car. He was so funny and even more fun to be around. I know he will be missed by many and I send all my love to the family and the people he was close to. XOXO-E-Flaca

My prayers are with Auntie Mona,Brandon, Matthew and Lisa. My heart is broken with the loss my Uncle Willie. He was always so fun and crazy. I’m going to miss the frosting he would put in my hand when ever he would grab it. I remember camping with him when I was little and always teasing him about who put pepper in the marshmallows. His laughter will be missed. Love you Uncle Willie
