Our husband, father, grandfather, and best friend passed away due to complications from internal stomach bleeding at Rose Hospital in Denver. Bill was surrounded with love by his wife, Jana, daughter Jayme, and son T, as he took his last breath.

Bill was born in Boulder to the late William Sr. and Velda (Lipsey) Fanning, and grew up in Grand Junction. He graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1964, was drafted into the Army in 1967 and was honorably discharged in 1969. After his military service, he obtained his degree from Ft. Lewis College in Durango.

Bill and Jana were married in Grand Junction in 1971. After living in Durango and Boulder, they settled in Longmont. Shortly thereafter, Bill began his banking career by working for several banks, culminating his career by establishing his own company, Home Loan Mortgage Corporation. He was very successful, becoming the largest residential construction lender in Boulder County and the Front Range. Bill was also active in his community, serving on numerous boards and was President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Longmont Chamber of Commerce in 1983.

Family and friends were extremely important to Bill; the trait he was most known for was his generosity. He made sure to demonstrate his appreciation and love by giving lavish gifts and cooking gourmet meals, which he was well known for. Bill also loved to travel, especially to Mexico, Italy, and Ireland.

Bill is survived by his wife Jana, daughter Jayme Ryan (Shane), son William T. Fanning III (Jennifer), grandkids Marc Evans and Ashley Evans, his Aunt Marge Magner, and many cousins. He also left many extremely close friends behind, all of whom will miss his hour-long telephone conversations. He is predeceased in death by his parents and sister Diane Najera.

Visitation will be held at Howe Mortuary in Longmont on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi in Longmont on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 10:00am. Bill's dearest friend, Father Dick Haldane, will officiate Mass. Due to COVID, no reception will occur at this time; we will have a Celebration of Life this summer in Longmont and Grand Junction. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bill's memory to the Denver Rescue Mission, Catholic Charities or the charity of your choice.

On behalf the entire late BIll & Pat Cleary family we offer prayers to the entire Fanning family at this time. Bill Jr., like his father, was influential, always happy, and supportive of our parents and their seven sons. Peace be with him.

Dear Jana, Jayme and T,

My heart is broken at the news about Little Bill. We are so, so sorry for your loss (and the loss to everyone who knew and loved him). May grace and the many years of wonderful memories sustain
you. I loved my Grand Junction cousins and will be praying for you this week and beyond.

Bill was a amazing man, husband, father and friend. He never did anything halfway. His meals we were privileged enough to enjoy with he and the family, were like nothing I had ever seen. His style and grace was also undeniable. He truly loved doing things for his family and friends that was very obvious. He was also the life of any party, or event. I will never forget the homemade pizza's he sent with Jana and I on our outings, or his baked brie he brought to our Christmas parties. He lived life large, and will be largely missed. However, and most importantly. he was also a great man of faith. I have no doubt he is Heaven now in perfect health, and preparing a perfect place for his family, and friends to join him later. We pray that God Blesses, and comforts the Fanning Family. Our Love to you all, Steve Flowers and Jill Wonder
