Bill was born in Denver on January 14, 1929 to Mabel (Steelberg) and John G. Hoagland. He grew up on a farm in Littleton, and spent a lot of his young life fishing and trapping muskrats. It was not uncommon for Bill and a friend to drive to Deckers for a fishing trip at age 13. Bill was also in the Boys Scouts.
After serving in the US Army Signal Corp in Korea, Bill came back and started working at Mountain Bell Telephone Company in Denver as an installer/repairman and worked his way up to management, retiring after 30 years of service.
He married Phyllis Marlene Woolf on October 24, 1954.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis, sons Larry (Tari) of Mead, Billy of Westminster, special daughter and son in law Cindy and Jerry Hooper of Cheyenne, WY, grandchildren Taylor, Landan, Kylee, Joshua, Brittany and great grandchildren, Chaille and Jaxon Sinner and Axyl Johnston and a sister Marie of Hawaii.
Bill’s favorite pastimes were fishing, hunting and camping. He taught his wife, sons and all grandchildren to fish, and enjoyed many camping trips with all. He also enjoyed being part of 4-H with his sons and granddaughter.
Bill built the family farm west of Longmont and he built a spec home as a retirement project. Golf and traveling with friends and family was a bonus of retirement, seeing the country pulling a 5th wheel.
Bill had been a member of Westview Presbyterian Church since 1971.
