

Bill began his surveying career in 1951 doing construction surveying for the City of Boulder. In 1963 he started his own surveying business with his wife and business partner Jan. Bill became Boulder County Surveyor in 1988 until 2002, and retired after 45 years in business, in 2008. He could always be counted on to share an interesting story about the history of an area or one of his many passions including surveying, construction, fishing, history, classical music or engineering.
Bill, a Boulder native was born on August 27, 1927 to Joseph and Matilda Stengel. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Janice (Jan) Stengel, his sister Mary Janet (Janet) Leeser, and three daughters from his first marriage, Mona Pate, Marsha Hosner, and Margo Wells.
A memorial celebration will be held Sun. May 6th, 10:00 am - 12:30 pm, at Frasier Meadows Assisted Living, 4950 Thunderbird Drive, Boulder, CO 80303. In lieu of flowers please contribute to a charity of your choice.
