William Thomas “Willie” Oggero, 57, of Illinois, died March 8, 2015 at his sister’s home in Longmont, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was born January 22, 1958 in Springfield, Illinois to William Victor and Carole Ann (Montgomery) Oggero. He graduated from Mt. Zion High School in Illinois. He served overseas in the US Army and lived in Illinois, Colorado, and Florida throughout his lifetime.
Willie was one of the first Colorado State Lottery winners in 1984. His working career led him first to dealing cards on a riverboat and then to Caterpillar, where he held the position of material handler for the heavy equipment division. He will be remembered for his love of music and the talent he had for playing guitar. He was an all-around sports fan, was an avid reader and loved both the mountains and the ocean.
Preceding him in death are his parents. Surviving are his son, Willie Oggero of Morton, IL, his daughter, Desiree Reed of St. Cloud, FL, his brother, Victor Oggero of Morton, IL and his sister. Paula Sesock of Longmont, CO. He is further survived by extended family, two grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside inurnment service will be held on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL.
Cremation has been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services, Longmont, CO.
