

He was born in Massachusetts and his family relocated to Louisville when Alan was young. He grew up playing sports, football and baseball, were his two favorites. Alan was a graduate of Trinity High School and the University of Louisville. He spent his entire career in sales, where he never met a stranger. He was an active member of St. John United Methodist Church and particuarly loved his small group, Coffee and Cliff Notes. Throughout his free time he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. This included watching his daughter cheer, traveling...Aruba was his favorite, boating on Lake Cumberland, University of Louisville games, playing Golden Tee with friends, and always making someone laugh or bringing a smile to your face.
He is preceded in death by his father, William Edward Hughes, and sister-in-law, Meg Hughes.
Alan is survived by his wife, Rhagan and their daughter, Lilli, his mother, Nancy Hughes, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Nancy Dillingham, siblings, William (Lisa), Charles, Robert, Elaine Howard (Luke), Anne Horne (John), Richard (Melanie) and Ashley Dillingham.
He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends and his "furry children", Chesney and Louie.
Guests are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, August 21st from 2-4 pm at St. John United Methodist Church, 12700 US-42, Prospect KY 40059. A memorial service will follow at 4pm. The family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) or St. John United Methodist Church.
