

Bettie Jean Burns of Louisville, KY, passed away on November 6, 2025 due to complications of a respiratory disorder. Mrs. Burns was 96 years old at the time of her passing. Bettie’s soul is surrounded by family and loved ones on her journey.
Bettie spent 56 years of marriage with the love her life, George Elliot Burns, who passed away on October 28, 2011, in Louisville, KY. Mr. Burns served in the Army Tank Corps in Germany during the Korean War and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Mrs. Burns was born on September 10, 1929, in Jefferson County, KY to parents Daniel Boone Coleman and Isabelle Anna Mastin. Bettie loved to travel the world, as the only continents she had not visited were Australia and Antarctica. Prior to retirement, Bettie worked as a telephone operator for Bellsouth/AT&T for approximately 40 years.
Bettie is survived by her two brothers: James A. Coleman and Barry M. Coleman. Bettie’s other siblings include (deceased): Norma Baldry, Edna Miller, Majorie Hyde, Robert L. Coleman and Nancy Coleman.
Visitation for Mrs. Burns will be at Advantage Funeral Home at 10907 Dixie Hwy., Louisville, KY between 2:00PM-6:00PM on Monday, November 10th.
A brief funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 11th at 1:00PM at Evergreen Funeral Home & Cemetery at 4623 Preston Hwy., Louisville, KY.
In lieu of memorial donations, the family requests that flower arrangements can be sent to Advantage Funeral Home prior to 12:00PM on Monday, November 10th.
