ADD A MEMORY
Mark Bayman

May 19, 2019

Today, marks the end of a 30 year journey with my dear friend Betty Barnes. As I reflect on the many memories of her influence on my life, I think that the most precious gift was that she was the first person to instill the fact that I needed God in my life to make it whole.
Within months of knowing her, she gave me a Bible. It was a "Good News" Bible so that I could understand it better. Inside she inscribed, "I hope this will help you find whatever you are looking for in life!" My first thought was..."Thanks...I think!" Why are you giving me this? Am I supposed to read this? Oh well, it doesn't matter. It was a sweet gesture and I will keep it forever. Of course I know now that she was taking a chance that maybe she could help a lost soul find his way through life a little easier if he could recognize what love and grace really was. I think that's what a Christian is...someone who shares God's love with hopes that they will continue to share it with others.

"Thank you Betty...message received!"

I was so blessed to meet and know Betty through our dear friend Mark Bayman. Having her join our church Crescent Hill Baptist, was a blessing
itself. She was such a wonderful person and a great friend to Mark, his Kentucky Mom.
Rest in peace.

I am honored to have known Betty for the past 10 years. My spouse Mark considered her his Kentucky mother. Betty, Leon, Mark & I spent many meals together. Betty and Leon even started attending our church, Crescent Hill Baptist Church where Betty changed her membership to Crescent Hill Baptist from her past church. We will miss her. She loved her dog Penny...that little dog was life to her. We will forever remember her for taking us two guys under her wing and loving us as her own. She and Leon sat on the front pew at our wedding 2 years ago...they filled in the absence of Mark's parents who were unable to attend. We loved our Betty. Now she can rest sheltered in the arms of her Lord and her son and grandson.
