Beverly Joyce Cox (Bradley), age 75, of Okolona, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. She was born in Bullitt County on December 10, 1950, and spent her early childhood growing up on Knob Creek.
Beverly was one of seven sisters—eight, including Janie, because they always included Janie. She was a firm believer in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Beverly retired from the Jefferson County School Board, where she worked as a teaching assistant. She cherished the time she spent with her students and fellow teachers throughout the years.
She was an animal and nature lover, an avid coffee drinker, and, most importantly, a loving wife, mom, and Nana. As her husband so perfectly put it, “She was a damn good woman.”
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, six of her sisters, and many beloved friends and family members whom she was eager to be reunited with in Paradise.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 56 years, Samuel “Junior” Cox; daughter, Jodie Cox; son, James Cox; her sweet dog, Bella; granddaughter, Jessica Taylor (Dave); two great-grandsons whom she adored, Sam and Ben; her sister, Debbie Renfro; and countless nieces and nephews.
The love Beverly had for her family was unmatched, and the love she gave will remain with them forever. Though her absence leaves a tremendous hole in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, the memories she created and the love she shared will never be forgotten.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, August 11, from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 8519 Preston Highway, Louisville, KY 40219.
A celebration of Beverly’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 12, at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Beverly’s memory by planting a tree or a garden and watching it grow—a living reminder of her life, her love, and the beautiful memories she leaves behind.
