

Born in Upton, Kentucky on Wednesday, July 16, 1947, Bobby was the son of the lates’ Elzie Lee Murray and Mary Edith Lucille Handley. Throughout his life, he was known as a hardworking businessman whose determination and entrepreneurial spirit shaped both his career and the lives of those around him. He was employed for many years with Philip Morris and later became the owner and operator of Murray Auto Sales on 7th Street Road, where his love for cars and his talent for business were shaped.
Bobby possessed a remarkable work ethic and was always searching for the next opportunity. He believed that success came through hard work, perseverance, and determination, and he instilled those values in his family through the many life lessons he shared over the years. His guidance, wisdom, and example will remain a lasting part of the legacy he leaves behind.
Away from work, Bobby found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved cars, took great pride in his independence, loved mowing the grass and cherished every opportunity to spend time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. Above all else, family was at the center of his life, and the memories created together will forever be treasured.
Besides his parents, Elzie Lee and Mary Edith Lucille Murray; his son, Patrick Norman Ross; and sister, Juanita Priddy, precede Bobby in his passing.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Kimberly Philpott, Cheryl Brentlinger and Amie Lashley; 9 – grandchildren, Ronnie (Lili) Philpott, Bobby Philpott, Brandon Brentlinger, Britney Brentlinger, Kira Lashley, Dakota Lashley, Jamie (Chris) Underwood and Justin (Andrea) Underwood and Karsten Norman Underwood; several – great – grandchildren including, Aubrie, Armani and Nova, with one on the way, Kayson; daddy’s baby girl, Bella; his niece, Debra (Gary); plus, a host of other cousins, other relatives and special friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Advantage Funeral Home - Heady Dixie; 7710 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky 40258. He will be laid to rest following the Funeral Service in Sonora Cemetery; 1416 Sonora Hardin Springs Road, Sonora, Kentucky 42776, where a Graveside Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Bobby will rest alongside his parents.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. also at the Advantage Funeral Home - Heady Dixie, 7710 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky 40258.
Those who wish to attend the Graveside are welcome to follow to the cemetery after the conclusion of the Funeral Service, however, there will be no formal procession due to safety concerns with the distance.
