Born on June 27, 1962, Brad was a devoted father, proud grandfather, and loyal friend. Known for his kindness, generosity, and great sense of humor, he brought laughter and warmth to those around him. Above all else, Brad loved his family deeply, and his pride in them was evident in everything he did.
A proud graduate of Ballard High School, Class of 1980, Brad later returned to the school as a softball coach for the Ballard Bruins. He loved the game, the school, and the players he coached, believing that if he could positively impact even one player’s life, he had done his job.
Brad attended the University of Louisville, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1997, and proudly supported the Cards throughout his life.
Brad is survived by his daughter, Taylor Jacobsen (Matthew); his son, Brandon Smith; and his beloved granddaughter, Ellie. He is also survived by his mother, Malinda Smith; his brothers, Greg Smith (Kathleen) and Brent Smith, both of Louisville; as well as nieces Shelby and Kierstyn Smith; nephew Parker Smith and niece Reese Smith.
He is also survived by his former wife, Teena Wesley, the mother of his children.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas W. Smith.
Brad’s legacy of laughter, generosity, and love will live on through his family, his players, and all who knew him.
