Born on June 16th, 1944, in Louisville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Clarence Beeker Rowe and the late Ann Maydell Robey Horsley. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Ann Noel; his grandmother, Connie Hise; and his daughter-in-law, Melinda Rowe. Charles lived his life with a warm spirit, a generous heart, and a steady devotion to the people and places he loved.
Charles attended and graduated from Male High School, where he excelled at basketball and made lasting memories through his school years. His athletic ability and competitive spirit were matched by the humor and kindness that those around him came to know so well. He carried those qualities throughout his life, and he was remembered by family and friends as funny, selfless, and kind.
He worked as a maintenance supervisor at the Zachary Taylor American Legion Post, where he was respected for his strong work ethic, reliability, and dedication. Charles also served as a commander of the Sons of the American Legion, reflecting his commitment to service and fellowship. In addition, he served faithfully as a deacon at Walnut Street Baptist Church, where his Christian faith guided the way he lived and cared for others.
Charles is survived by his wife of 38 years, Gwen Turner Rowe; his son, Charles C. Rowe; his daughters, Lisa Chapman and Angie Goodman; his stepsons, Stuart Redmon and Josh Redmon; his sister, Beverly Horsley; his brother-in-law, Bruce Noel; seven grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Those who knew Charles will remember a man who could bring laughter into a room, offer help without hesitation, and treat others with genuine kindness. He was selfless in his actions, faithful in his service, and steadfast in his love for his family. His presence brought comfort and strength to those around him, and his memory will remain a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 2nd, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Arch L. Heady & Son - Westport Village, 7410 Westport Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40222.
A funeral service will take place on Thursday, September 3rd, 2026, starting at 11:00 am, at Arch L. Heady & Son - Westport Village, 7410 Westport Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40222.
Burial will occur at Evergreen Cemetery, 4623 Preston Highway, Louisville, Kentucky 40213, following the funeral service.
