Cheryl J Opstad-Peterson

October 27 1954 - August 16 2026

Cheryl (MOM) of Radcliff, KY passed away peacefully at the age of 71 on 16 August 2026 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was a long time resident of of the Twin Cities area in Minnesota. Cheryl attended Roosevelt High School (Class of 72) and after graduating became a beautician, financial advisor, realtor, and school bus driver.

She was a mother, sister, daughter, aunt, and grandma (PoPo) who was both beautiful inside and out. Cheryl was a compassionate, stubborn, full of love lady who had a heart of gold and could make light of any situation she faced. She cared deeply for her family, kids, grandchildren, and pets. She enjoyed crafts, bowling (at Stardust Lanes), playing softball for the local bar, cards/cribbage, holidays, cooking, gardening, sewing, TV (Cartoons), romance novels, rocking out to music while she drove and satisfying her sweet tooth with a good treat.

Cheryl is survived by her daughter Apryl (Mike) Williams, son Michael (Sara) Watroba, grandchildren Treyden, Brennin and Veygas, Sister Cindy (Mike) Persons and her nieces and nephews.

Cheryl is preceded in death by her father Sigurd Opstad, mother Lucille Opstad, sisters Marilyn Nail and Nancy Madson, brother Herman Opstad and partner Randy Peterson.

Please join the family for a celebration of life on 8 October 2026 from 4:30pm-10pm at the Crystal VFW Post 494 in MN located at 5222 Bass Lake Rd. Crystal, MN 55429.

Graveside service will take place on 9 October 2026 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cemetery located at 2250 St. Anthony Blvd Minneapolis, MN 55418 at 11:00am by the bell tower.
