Daughter of Wayne M. Lovan, Sr. and Phyllis McGee Lovan of Louisville, KY, she was born July 14, 1970 in Detroit, MI.
Cynthia grew up in Detroit and northeastern Ohio (Medina & Cortland) before starting a career in publications. Later she spent years living in Louisville, New York City (Queens & Brooklyn) and finally, Pittsburgh.
A fount of creativity and supreme wit, Cynthia provided endless joy and laughter to all who knew and loved her. She was also a life-long nurturer of plants & animals.
Her self-taught knowledge of horticulture was truly encyclopedic and she channeled this into world-class garden design on a professional level, eventually launching her own private landscaping business which she ran successfully until she became sidelined by illness.
Cynthia loved all types of animals--large, small, cute or creepy--but she held an extra-special fondness for cats. The list of felines lucky enough to live in her orbit is quite lengthy: Spike, Cobweb, Jett, Pixie, Star, Myrtle, Wookiee, Lucy, Snowy, Goldie, Marbles, Silver & Mr. Hats.
Predeceased by her father, Cynthia leaves behind her mother Phyllis, devoted husband David of Pittsburgh and her big brother Wayne Marcus Lovan in New York City. She will also be missed by her uncle Dean McGee (Sally Haddle), mother-in-law Esther Stone Rubin (Joseph Stanley Rubin, deceased), brother-in-law James Edward Rubin (Rebecca), aunt Myra Susan Stone and uncle Robert George Rubin (Marianne).
Her favorite Beatle was Paul.
